Job Details



Role Purpose 

  1. To be responsible to the Line Manager for the repair and maintenance of the Council’s operational properties and schools.
  2. Work in a team of Engineers/Surveyors, supervising, repair, maintenance and improvement works undertaken by external contractors via Competitive tendering/quotations, Measured Term Contracts and Schedules of Rates.

Responsibilities 
  1. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary professional team providing Planned and Reactive maintenance for the Council’s operational properties.
  2. Conduct inspections of buildings as directed to identify both short and long term maintenance requirements.
  3. Inspect the work of, Approved contractors, Schedule of Rate contractors and Term contractors ensuring that work is of an acceptable standard and is carried out within the appropriate time scale and to current statutory requirements.
  4. Ensure that the projects allocated to you are managed on time as scheduled in the annual maintenance programme.
  5. Where required liaise with the appointed consultant on projects, and obtain all necessary planning and statutory approvals.
  6. Create design solutions for building works, including production of layouts, working drawings, estimates and specifications.

Requirements 
  • Hold a degree or qualification recognised by one the following professional bodies or extensive relevant previous experience:- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute of Building  
  • Experience working in councils/ housing associations 
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary project team dealing with building projects, refurbishment and general repairs.
  • Rate is non-negotiable

Contract 
  • Initial 3 month contract with the opportunity to extend 
  • PAYE via Umbrella 
  • Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
