Job Details


Role Purpose

  • Surveying services for properties requiring adaptations to accommodate residents with disabilities.
  • Assessing properties that require adapting, and identifying any building defects that may affect the proposed adaptation
Responsisbilities
  • Work closely with the Occupational Therapists, producing detailed specifications and AutoCAD drawings for tenders.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the entire process until the satisfactory completion of the works.
  • To determine the condition of existing buildings and to identify and analyse defects which will or may affect any proposed adaptations.
  • To prepare documents for Disabled Facilities Grant applications as required.
  • To carry out pre and post works inspections to ensure the specified works are undertaken to contract standards and in accordance with the Occupational Therapists recommendations.
  • Work closely with and co-ordinate with various professional bodies to ensure that work is undertaken in a manner commensurate with all statutory requirements and current legislation e.g. H&S, CDM, Party Wall Act legislation
Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:
• Have an HND / HNC or equivalent professional qualification in a building surveying or a related subject or be qualified by experience in a similar role.
• Experience of delivering disabled adaptations projects within agreed timescales and with quality outcomes, including effective planning, managing and monitoring programs of work.
• Good knowledge of Building Regulations, asbestos awareness and Health & Safety legislation
• Ability to plan and deliver building works including effective planning, managing and monitoring programs of work for disabled occupants
• Knowledge of the legislative and procedural frameworks within which the Disabled Facilities Grants operate.
