Job Description

Cabinet Support Officer
We are currently recruiting for a Cabinet Support Officer to join a Local Authority on a 3–6 month ongoing contract. This is a key role providing high-level administrative and executive support to Cabinet Members, helping to drive council priorities and support effective decision-making.

Role Details:

  • Rate: £29 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Contract: 3–6 months (ongoing)
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Location: West London
  • Working Pattern: 5 days office-based
About the Role:
You will provide flexible and proactive support to 2–3 Cabinet Members, ensuring they are fully prepared to carry out their duties. This includes diary coordination, briefing preparation, research, and stakeholder engagement across the organisation and externally.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication between senior leadership, service departments, and external partners, while supporting the delivery of key council objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level administrative and executive support to Cabinet Members and the Administration
  • Manage forward planning, diaries, and preparation for meetings and engagements
  • Conduct research on policy areas and prepare briefing notes and reports
  • Collate papers for meetings and summarise key information clearly and concisely
  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments, senior leadership, and external stakeholders
  • Take accurate minutes and support governance processes
  • Identify and highlight relevant policy issues to senior stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Support the Chief of Staff and Chief Executive’s Office where required
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in an executive support or administrative role within a local authority, housing association, or political environment
  • Strong minute-taking and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to work with discretion and exercise sound judgement
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive and professional approach to work
