Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods using a flatbed lorry. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage deliveries effectively. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products reach their destinations on time and in perfect condition.
Responsibilities
  • Operate a flatbed lorry to transport goods to various locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are secured properly for transport.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Working hours are 10 hours per day, Monday to Friday between 4am-7pm ( core working hours are 6am - 4pm) with flexibility around these times being essential. Possible nights away (payment of £40 per stay away) This position is based within our depot in Alton, Hampshire, and has many perks, in terms of stability, pension, stay away bonus, expenses and overtime which is paid at time and a half with a high and achievable OTE. Overtime is a pay and a half p/h
Qualifications
  • Valid commercial driving licence HGV Class 2 with no major endorsements or violations.
  • Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members.
  • Ability to lift heavy items safely and efficiently as required during loading/unloading processes.
  • A commitment to maintaining vehicle cleanliness and performing basic maintenance checks.
