Job Description

Role Purpose
  • The role of Building Surveyor is to provide professional surveying and technical support, contributing to the smooth and efficient delivery of the Asset Management strategy.
  • Building Surveyors to join our Asset Management team
Responsibilities 
  • Delivering technical service function which provides effective capital investment, cyclical, fire safety and statutory maintenance services, to time and budget, in line with legislation, policy, capital programme and strategic objectives
  • Oversee the identification of leaks, rising damp, penetrating damp, and condensation across the Housing Property Services portfolio. Ensure that signs of damp caused by plumbing related problems because of leaking water or drainage pipes are diagnosed.
  • Provide strategic leadership within the Housing portfolio, contributing proactively to the collective leadership of the council, working collaboratively with Members, services, partners, and stakeholders to deliver the council’s objectives and priorities.
  • Lead by example in modelling and embedding the council’s values and behaviours to help build a sustainable highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents.
Requirements 
  • Degree in a construction related discipline or relevant experience
  • Significant demonstrable experience in a surveying role in a housing association, local authority, or similar.
  • Full contract administration responsibilities of a range of technical and complex major works projects; including preparing tender documentation, cost analysis and budgetary control, site management, supervising contractors, quality control and certification
  • Robust understanding of current health and safety legislation, CDM (including Principal Designer experience) and comprehensive knowledge of other building related statutory obligations
  • Robust knowledge and experience of Building Safety and Compliance good practice and statutory requirements
