Location: North West London
Rate: £570 per day Umbrella
Contract: 6-month rolling contract
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office

About the RoleWe are currently seeking an experienced Head of Economic Development to join a local authority in North West London on a 6-month rolling contract.
This is a senior strategic role responsible for shaping and delivering the borough’s economic development and regeneration strategy, driving economic growth, investment and placemaking across the borough.
The successful candidate will lead the development of regeneration strategies, masterplans and a strong regeneration pipeline, helping to create vibrant, prosperous and sustainable communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of borough-wide economic development and regeneration strategies.
• Develop regeneration programmes, masterplans and a strong pipeline of future opportunities.
• Drive initiatives that support economic growth, inward investment and placemaking.
• Develop and maintain strong strategic partnerships with local businesses, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Community Improvement Districts (CIDs).
• Build effective partnerships across sub-regional and pan-London networks to support investment and economic growth.
• Lead economic development activity across key opportunity areas, including High Streets and Town Centres.
• Champion innovation and support the growth and development of key economic sectors.
• Ensure the borough's economy is fair, vibrant, resilient and well positioned to respond to future challenges.
• Provide expert strategic advice, leadership and operational oversight across economic development and regeneration programmes.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments, businesses, partners and other stakeholders to deliver strategic priorities.
• Support initiatives that improve prosperity, employment and opportunity for residents and businesses across the borough.
• Line manage 2 Programme Lead Officers, 1 Regeneration Officer and 1 Apprentice, providing effective leadership, support and performance management.

About YouThe ideal candidate will have:

• Significant senior-level experience within economic development, regeneration, placemaking or a related local authority environment.
• Strong experience developing and delivering economic development and/or regeneration strategies.
• Proven experience of developing masterplans, regeneration pipelines and strategic programmes.
• Experience building and managing partnerships with businesses, BIDs, CIDs and other external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of inward investment, economic growth, High Streets and Town Centre regeneration.
• Excellent strategic leadership and programme management skills.
• Experience managing and developing teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to provide strategic advice and translate economic development priorities into deliverable programmes.
