Reviews Officer (Homelessness)
Location: East London
Pay Rate: £32.00 - £35.00 per hour Umbrella (depending on experience)
Contract: 3-6 Month Contract
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 1-2 Days in the Office
Interviews: In Person Only

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct statutory Section 202 homelessness reviews under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Review decisions relating to duty owed, suitability of accommodation, priority need, intentional homelessness and local connection.
  • Make offers of accommodation under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, including Temporary Accommodation and accommodation to discharge the Relief Duty or Section 193(2) duty.
  • Apply the Homelessness Code of Guidance, Review Regulations and relevant case law.
  • Produce clear, legally defensible review decision letters within statutory deadlines.
  • Carry out detailed investigations and assess complex housing cases.
  • Work collaboratively with Housing Options, Accommodation Placements, Legal Services and external partners.
  • Monitor compliance and contribute to continuous service improvements.
  • Build effective working relationships across internal departments and stakeholders.
Essential RequirementsCandidates must have:
  • Experience conducting reviews under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Experience making offers of accommodation under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, including Temporary Accommodation or accommodation to end the Relief Duty or the duty under Section 193(2).
  • Experience managing Accommodation Placement Teams.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working within homelessness or housing services.
  • Previous experience working within a London Local Authority.
  • Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, relevant case law and homelessness legislation.
  • Excellent investigation, report writing and decision letter drafting skills.
  • The ability to manage complex casework and work to statutory deadlines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
