Job Description

Development Officer – Housing Delivery
Location: South East London
Rate: £530 per day umbrella
Contract: 6 months ongoing
Hours: Full time
Start: ASAP

We are currently looking for an experienced Development Officer to join a local authority Housing Delivery team in South East London.
The role will focus on supporting and delivering housing development projects, working with residents, contractors, consultants and internal Council teams to make sure projects are delivered effectively and provide value for money.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support existing housing delivery projects and programmes, as well as help develop new opportunities.
  • Take responsibility for specific development projects, making effective use of Council-owned assets.
  • Work closely with Resident Liaison Officers on resident engagement and project handovers.
  • Support Project Managers with handovers, tenancy liaison and the Defects Liability Period.
  • Build strong working relationships with residents, Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations, developers, contractors, landowners and community groups.
  • Work with internal Housing, Tenancy and other Council teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor projects, provide updates and contribute to reporting and performance management.
  • Support and deputise for other members of the Housing Delivery team when required.
About You - You will have experience working in housing development or project delivery, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
You should have:
  • Experience engaging with residents, consultants, design teams and contractors.
  • Knowledge of housing construction within a local authority setting.
  • Understanding of housing development funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of site acquisition and scheme viability/appraisal.
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on development projects.
  • Experience managing handovers and Defects Liability Periods.
  • Experience liaising with contractors and Employers’ Agents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
